Twitter and Multimedia Authorship Essay Draft

Ashley Graff

Here is the link to my Twitter and Multimedia Authorship Essay Draft.

I have not completed my essay, but so far I have addressed the issue of who gets credit for what when it comes to using Twitter. I have given various examples of collaborative peices of art that people have made using Twitter. I stopped right before talking about controvery surrounding Twitter and I am going to explain how people are using "tweets" in ways the authors don't agree to, using the Sarah Palin and Conan example. I am also going to explain the benefits of using Twitter and how it is changing our society, becuase there are many articles about that. Then that is probably how I will end my essay. Again this is not a completed essay

  1. Ashley,
Your paper is great so far, it's very well written. You present your ideas clear and transition well throughout the paper. I think the other ideas you mentioned are also good to include. Where your paper stopped right now, it may be good to add something about copyright laws with Twitter (whatever they might be), because you're talking about rights. You're main idea is about how things that branch off of Twitter don't always give credit to Twitter users. You have plenty of evidence of this, however you might want to include something used in class. Social media might be a good topic. There were a few grammatical errors where I think you meant to say "statuses" and said "statues", but other than that you seem off to a great start.

  2. So far it looks like you have a really good start. You make a lot of points about the World Wide Web causing people to unintentionally lose the rights to the things that the say. You also state that this is a problem (and I'm guess you are going to expand on why it is a problem later in the paper).

An interesting aspect to include would be the Terms and Policies of the Twitter page because it might state something about content ownership. (Even if you don't want to make an argument about what the Twitter page's policies are, it would be a good thing to cite anyway.)

Also, are you planning to make some sort of proposal by the end of your paper? Like how Twitter could be changed so that the author of a Tweet has more control over where that Tweet gets used or displayed.

    Good work so far
